She is right that Islamic people need to hear other points of view and that some may change their opinions, but she is wrong that Islam can be transformed. As liberals have transformed Christianity so that it is no longer Christian, true Christianity will always grow and dominate because it is true. If Islam is transformed it will simply cease to be because it is not true. DebbieB
I'm still holding out hope that the Internet will bring enlightenment to many who are still living in Islamic theocracies...and they act upon it.
Wafa Sultan's message is astounding.
Partially because at one time Islam
as a culture was heads and shoulders above Christian Europe until the Reformation.
As a parallel study, Islam is like unto the Inquisition. A fanatic
embracing of perfection to the point of denying agency.
She talks about transforming Islam.
Only the Muslims can do that. But they have to see that their extremism is incorrect. Catholicism survived the Inquisition. Christianity reformed, but Christians who preach with their lips and their hearts
are not in what they preach are not Christians.
I agree with the comments about liberals transforming Christianity but only up to a point. We live under Christ's grace and let Him judge because we are to obey the first two commandments: Love God and serve Him, and love our neighbors. If we love our neighbors, we warn them, we pray for them, we help them, we practice the pure love of Christ. We do not tolerate sin, but help the sinner to repent, and if they choose not to, we leave their judgment to God but still love them.
