Petition For National Broadcast Decency

I received the following in an E-mail from Grassfire.org and thought I would share it here...

We have just learned that the networks are headed to federal court demanding a first Amendment right to use the f-word, and the s-word during family hour... this is outrageous, and Grassfire is responding by presenting hundreds of thousands of citizen petitions DIRECTLY to the Senate Commerce Committee next week.

Please take a moment to click on the image below and sign this petition. And thanks for "Viewing".

I'm more concerned about the harmful effects of indoctrinating children with the philosophical leanings of sitcom writers. Would you be happy with your kids watching "Sex abnd the City" if it didn't depict sex or contain profanity? Most TV is still sexist, elitist, postmodernist, marxist, glorifies victimhood, preaches reliance on others rather than oneself.... Personally I think those are more harmful.

How about radio censorship? Doesn't Nine Inch Nails have a legitimate artistic need to use a verb that implies unemotional promiscuous sex?

I just don't understand why these shows have to keep pushing more and more filth at the American public.I watch very little TV ,sometimes I watch the old shows on that cable channel, some Fox news and (you caught me ,blush ) a couple of soaps, but I sure wouldn't recommend them to small children. Kids should be outside playing.

ManiaC Provost,
"Personally I think those are more harmful."

OK, well... How 'bout "equally as harmful"? I'm not disagreeing with you, but if I have a small child, I don't want that child picking up words like sh*t and f*ck at 5 or 6 years old. At that age they don't understand postmodernist marxism anyway.

And let's not forget... they're talking about putting this stuff on prime-time network (not cable) free airwaves TV.

As for radio censorship of Nine Inch Nails? ...I'm all for it. I don't think they have any artistic need. Nope. Sorry. They can spew that crap on Sirius if they want to.

Barb,
I'm with ya. I guess the networks want to do it now because they feel discriminated against by the cable channels. The big difference is that people have to pay for cable. The network stations are still available free over the airwaves. Anybody with a TV and an antenna can receive it. And some people have purposely avoided getting cable because they don't want their kids exposed to the trash.

My latest pet peeve is all the cussing in the commercials! Seems like TNT shows an ad for "The Closer" every break all day long: quote, "If I wanted to be called a bi#ch, I'd still be married."; Top Chef, "I'm not your bi#ch, bi#th.", etc. I can choose not to watch these shows, but when the language is flying out of the tube every commercial break, my only choice is to turn it off completely!

Yearrrrrrghhhh!

Eh, I don't like NIN that much anyway. But TV is like... brainwashing. It's ubiquitous. And it has the exact opposite values as I do. That worries me.
