Christmas Ruminations

DOWNTOWN, NJ -- On this most sacred of days in the Christian calendar, we are reminded of how blessed this country has been for nearly 230 years. I believe that these blessings are due in no small part to its being a Christian nation, founded largely by Christians and based on Christian values. Being a Christian nation, it is a giving nation. Americans have given more to charity than any other nation on earth.

But at this time of year, we are also reminded of the efforts by the godless atheists who seek to secularize our nation and eliminate all traces of Christianity. We are also reminded of the efforts by the Islamofascists who seek to attack our country and turn it into an Islamic calliphate.

Our religion, indeed our very way of life is threatened. But should we be surprised about this? Jesus, whose birth we celebrate, warned us that such a day would come... and worse yet.
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation, and put you to death; and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then many will fall away, and betray one another, and hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12 And because wickedness is multiplied, most men’s love will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end will be saved.
-- Matthew 24:9-13

As Christians, we will be hated by all nations for the sake of Christ's name... even by the United States of America. Organizations like the ACLU, PFAW, NARAL and PETA are false prophets that have already arisen to "lead many astray". As a result, many Christians have already "fallen away" from the true faith to follow a false gospel.

They follow the false gospels of "diversity" and "separation", where everyone EXCEPT Christians have a right to worship or celebrate their faith. They want to take away our freedom OF Religion, and replace it with freedom FROM Religion.

They follow the false gospels of "choice" and "mercy killing", which is really a gospel of "death". But Christ said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the LIFE." Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the LIFE." Jesus said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal LIFE." God is a God of LIFE!

They follow the false gospel of "animal rights" and "environmentalism", where animals have more rights than humans. They worship the creation and not the Creator. Jesus said, "What man of you, if he has one sheep and it falls into a pit on the sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value is a man than a sheep!" In Genesis God said, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have DOMINION over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth." And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food."

Let us stand fast then brothers and sisters, for the path is sure to get more difficult rather than less. Let your "light" shine forth in this darkening world. Put your light on a lampstand and not under a bushel, that it may be seen by men. Keep fighting the "good" fight, for as wickedness multiplies... the love of many will grow cold. "But he who endures to the end will be saved."

Hawkeye: Thanks for reminding us about Matthew 24. It certainly says a lot!

This year there was certainly less "good cheer" than last, I believe due in large part to some trying to remove "Christ" from "Christmas".

As Christians, we should be just as much in arms, ALL during the year as we have been about Christmas.

The secular humanists have done a pretty effective job of removing HIM during the rest of the year.

I PRAY that Christians wake up, and see how effective we can be, (as I think we were at Christmas), and fight them ALL year long!

Happy BLESSED New Year Hawkeye!

BTW Congratulations on your achievements, Hawkeye! You are a real go-getter.

Amen to that. You know, I never really thought about it, but just imagine... God can use anything He wants to reach people, and the Internet is now becoming so pervasive... you wonder if someone might not just wander onto one of our blog sites "for a reason".

Best wishes my good man.

Thanks for the compliment. I didn't have much time for ruminating until lately. It seems we can get so busy in our daily lives, it doesn't leave much time for praying, Bible-reading or ruminating.

Best wishes for the New Year!

dude, you are one hell of an ass clown.

let me give you and your fellow conservative morons a lesson.

there is NO attempt by Osama bin Laden to turn America into "into an Islamic calliphate". You need to stop watching crap from Fox News and start doing some serious reading on your own.

9/11 was simply an heinous attempt to hurt as many Americans as possible. Why? To seek revenge for perceived American support for Israe, American support for UN sanctions in Iraq, and American military presence on Saudi (Islamic holy).

Of course, these reasons do not justify the actions of 9/11 but is it any wonder that 4 years after that day, the most powerful military in the world cannot even capture a 6 foot tall, 60+ year old man who walks with a cane and has a kidney problem? That is because there many in this country, mainly conservatives, who still have NO DAMN CLUE why we were attacked on 9/11.

Basic military strategy will tell you that understanding the enemy and his intentions is one of the key elements of winning the battle.

Does anyone with anything other than an average IQ think that Osama really wants America to turn into another Taliban-style Afghanistan?

The answer is No. He just wants to kill as many Americans as possible. And he is also not stupid as Bush to think that he can go invade a foreign nation and expect that country to adhere to his own values.

As for the phony "war on Xmas cooked up by religious nut jobs like Falwell", get a grip. The ACLU is not going to come into your house to prevent your family from celebrating Xmas. It is only trying to stop religious extremists like yourself from shoving your beliefs down the throats of non-Christians.

Isn't there some constitutional document that states something about separation of church and state?

John Stuart Mill (British philospher and economist):

Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives.

lbl,

No, it is freedom "OF" church and state, not Freedom "from". Look it up sometime before you spout the usual liberal indoctrination speech.
Btw, I am not Christian, but I only see things good come from their beliefs, so I believe in "some" god in that sense. (I always prescribed to the idea there is God in ALL living things).
When Stores start banning anything Christmas, they and I get a little mad, and it is about time. They can only turn the other cheek until you losers are beating it with a bat, and then guess what happens?!
Keep up the fight Hawkeye...

to anonymous:

isn't it supposed to be SEPARATION of church and state?

get a life. stores like walmart, target and bloomingdale's are out to "ban" Christmas. They just figured out that a more inclusive marketing campaign would probably attract more customers. Or if you look at it another way, they just choose to use the word "holiday" instead of "christmas" in order not alienate certain customers.

Thus, it is nothing but pure capitalism at work here.

Why should any of these Christian extremists get mad? where in the bible that God tell us that we should ensure that the word Christmas is not omitted by retail stores?

west coast sheep said: "where in the bible that God tell us that we should ensure that the word Christmas is not omitted by retail stores?"

How about YOU tell us, where in the Constitution are the words, "SEPARATION of church and state"?

west coast parrot also said: "let me give you and your fellow conservative morons a lesson."
AND
"--the most powerful military in the world cannot even capture a 6 foot tall, 60+ year old man who walks with a cane and has a kidney problem."
AND then says:
"You need to stop watching crap from Fox News and start doing some serious reading on your own."

parrot boy calls Conservatives "morons" then peppers NUMEROUS false dimocrat "talking point lies" throughout his rant.

In the interest of time, (because this typical left wing nut deseves no more than a LITTLE), I only challenge a FEW of his "disinformation".

bin Laden is NOT 60+, there is nothing in the Constitution that reads, "Separation of church and State", it has been proven by poll after poll, there IS an assault against using the NAME of Jesus Christ, and the ACLU is at the forefront of this.

And, as is typical of left loonies, they decry that FOX spreads lies, yet NO ONE has EVER pointed out EVEN ONE! A few times they have unintentionally reported something that was wrong, ands IMMEDIATELY corrected it. This opposed to CBS, The NY Times, and LA Times, who not only report false info, but even when it is proven, are weeks late correcting it, or NOT ever admitting they were wrong!

LEFT coast lib: You are certainly A-typical of the fanatic left, although, you seem like one of the dumber ones to me.

Either that, or we have another Howie on our hands.

You are not trying that again, are you Howie?

WCL,
Regarding the desires of some to restore an Islamic caliphate, read the following, which came from HERE...

The concept of Islamic caliphate can be properly understood in three different ways...

(The second way is...) The fiqh and shariah (jurisprudence of law) that came from this (early) period and were applied by the Ottoman Empire. These came to reflect the social norms of that Empire rather than al-urf or "custom" of each Muslim society, as had been the originally stated intent. None of the classical jurists of Islam sought to found a taqlid or "blind imitation" of their precedent, but this was found to be useful by caliphs and ulema (jurists), and is still to the present day. To these a re-establishment of "Islamic caliphate" means essentially a re-establishment of the Ottoman Empire and its continued evolution from where it ended in 1918, with perhaps more local autonomy. This view is usually associated with the Wahabist movement originating with Sunni power figures in Saudi Arabia, and nominally embodied in such regimes as the Afghanistan Taliban and such non-state actors as Al Qaeda.

You ignore such ambition at your own peril.

yeah Osama bin Laden is not 60+, he is 58. So I guess it makes it easier to swallow that the MOST POWERFUL military in the world cannot capture a 6 foot tall 58-year old who walks with acane and has a kidney problem than not being able to capture a 60+ year old man with the same health problems.

Apparently, you think that the few years of age difference gives Osama the ability to run faster, jump higher which is why our military is unable to capture them??

As for Fox News, please, go ahead and google "Fox News Lies" or "bill O'reilly lies". heck, there was even a documentary made about the crap from Fox News.

Where in the world have you been?

So if tomorrow I write a book about how Richard Gere and the Buddhists are trying to take over America, would you quote it and use that as backup for why you think the Buddhists are trying to turn Christian America into Buddhist America?

I'm one of the last people on the planet to embrace Wahabism Islam and I would even go to the extent to say that even mainstream Islam is intolerant.

However, you have to be a moron to actually believe that Osama wants to turn America into an Islamic nation.

To believe that crap would be to believe the following scenario.
**************************
Osama sits in his cave. His henchman comes in and reports to him that Americans are surfing porn, reading Playboy, having pre-marital sex, having one-night stands. Upon hearing the news that Americans are not living up to Wahabism standards, Osama goes bananas.
***************************

Give me a break.

Nice quote from Churchill by the way. However, you're forgetting one thing, conservatism across the Atlantic DOES NOT include any of the religious hogwash that you find in this country.

The similarities would include stuff like lower taxes and smaller government but you will never the Tories speak about crap like amending the constitution to ban gay rights or passing legislation to interfere in the decisions of a family (Terri Schiavo).

I recommend that you spend time on the websites of British publications like The Times of London (owned by the same guy who owns Fox News) to broaden your knowledge of worldly issues. It is a known fact that conservatives are generally not very educated and hardly travel outside the country. That probably explains why you guys are so narrow-minded.

Sure there are exceptions like Rumsfeld, Scalia, Rehnquist or Rice but if we look at conservatives and more specifically at religious conservatives, we do not exactly see the MIT-engineering/Harvard-law type.

Where do you think the term "liberal elite" came from? I DO NOT consider myself as part of any elite group but let's face it, even Ann Coulter admits that conservatives should always be wary of Ivy-Leaguers.

Case in point: Look at the 2004 election. The ones that went for Kerry are, for the most part, the wealthiest and most educated ones.

If we dig deeper and compare the deep blue vs the deep red, e.g. NY/CT vs. TX/AL/MS, we see an even larger contrast.

University professors have always been assailed by the right as too liberal. Don't you think it's funny that the people most qualified to educated our children tend to lean to the left? Or is it because that they just know, based on their education, that being open minded beats having a closed mind like most conservatives do?

Think about it.

WCL,
OK, let's discuss your comments... Case in point: Look at the 2004 election. The ones that went for Kerry are, for the most part, the wealthiest and most educated ones.

Think so? You can go HERE for A Study by The Pew Research Center: Beyond Red vs. Blue, Released: May 10, 2005

The study was essentially an analysis of the 2004 Presidential Election.

For details on the item you raise, you can go HERE.

Regarding wealth...

"On the other hand, Enterprisers ("staunch Conservatives") and Liberals whose political opinions mix no better than oil and water have a surprising amount of common ground both economically and educationally. These groups are the wealthiest and best educated in the typology. Roughly four-in-ten Enterprisers and Liberals (41% each) have annual household incomes of at least $75,000; only the Upbeats (39%) have about as many people in that income category."

Regarding education...

"Liberals have the highest education level of any typology group 49% are college graduates and 26% have some postgraduate education. But the Enterprisers ("staunch Conservatives") also include a relatively high percentage of college graduates (46%), although fewer Enterprisers than Liberals have attended graduate school (14%)."

Personally, I would not be surprised to learn that many conservatives do not go back to graduate school because of the lop-sided number of liberals who are teaching there.

hawkeye:
i like the way you inserted the words "staunch conservatives" behind the word "Enterprisers" to make your point.

Are you trying to pull a fast one to make your point? The article did not mention anywhere that enterprisers are "staunch conservatives". if anything, the greatest enterpriser in America is a staunch Democrat. You might have heard of him, his name is Warren Buffet.

Having said that, I would agree that there is a greater proportion of so-called enterprisers that swing to the right. However, that percentage pales in comparison to the percentage of social conservatives that are Republicans. You are far more likely to have an enterpriser who is a Democrat/liberal than a Harvard law grad who is a
"staunch conservative".

the data you've provided does not refute my points at all.

lastly, you might also want to note that the pro-business community also objects to many items on the conservative agenda. The push to crack down on illegal immigration has caused the usually pro-Republican US Chamber of Commerce to rebel against Rep politicians. And you can bet that the pro-businss community scorns Christian nut jobs like yourselves for telling them that they cannot market to gays or cannot omit the word "Christmas".

At 12/30/2005 7:55 PM , Blogger Hawkeye® said...

WCL,
You are wrong again! If you go to the first link I gave you and look for "THE RIGHT"... then scroll down to the second paragraph where you will read...

"The three GOP groups are highly diverse, and this is reflected in their values. The staunchly conservative Enterprisers have perhaps the most consistent ideological profile of any group in the typology. They are highly patriotic and strongly pro-business, oppose social welfare and overwhelmingly support an assertive foreign policy. This group is largely white, well-educated, affluent and male more than three-quarters are men."

When I give you a link, read it before you open your mouth and insert your foot.

And the percentage of Enterpisers in no way "pales in comparison to the percentage of social conservatives that are Republicans", as you suggest. Check the study for info on that too.

At 12/31/2005 12:27 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

58 is not 60+. If a Republican said as much, libs like you would call him a liar, so I guess that is what you are.

Where is the line drawn, west coast liar"? Are little lies not as bad as big lies, and do we have to now check EVERYTHING you state as fact to determine fact from fiction?

Not me imbecile. When I see west coast liberal said, I can now save valuable time and use the "scroll function" of my mouse.

Intelligent Conservatives have finally realized that there is no getting through to people of your ilk.

We could have all saved time 5 years ago if we had only listened to the words my Dad told me when I was young. "Ignore the IGNORANT!"

BTW, I read and responded to you on the other thread. In case you don't go read it, let me say to you, repent and accept JESUS as your "personal" LORD and Savior, or to put it bluntly,---rot and burn in Hell!

And before you use some of your PC crap about "JESUS is love" and wouldn't talk that way. Show me ANYTIME in the Bible when Jesus said things that offended people, and then went back and told them HE was sorry he OFFENDED them?

Where is Jesus love in you? You want to attack anyone who doen't march lock-step to your beliefs. You are the perfect hypocrite. At least you are perfect at something.

As I said before, I won't waste anymore time on you. Enjoy what is left of your miserable life loser.

To RAM:
It's typical of conservatives to pick on inconsequential stuff to attack liberals. Sure 58 is not 60+. Sure I was sloppy in stating Osama bin Laden's age. It's not as if I'm a member of his fan club that I follow his every move.

You DELIBERATELY ignored the main point, i.e. the most powerful military in the world has yet to succeed in capturing a 6 ft tall 58-year old who walks with a cane and has kidney disease.

Instead of addressing that, you chose to attack me for lying about Osama's age.

Conservatism at its best. Then again, you probably do not have what it takes to provide an intelligent response to the main point and thus you conveniently chose to switch the subject of the discussion to something that carries no weight.

As for me being a hypcrite, I have NEVER denied that I have made ad-hominem remarks in thisblog. The only difference between me and the rest of you Christian extremists, is that I don't make ad-hominem attacks at anyone hiding behind the bible the way you guys do against liberals.
