Looney Liberal of the Week: RINOs

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- This week's award goes to the liberal Congressional RINOs ("Republicans In Name Only") that successfully scuttled the agenda of their own party, by siding with Democrats to remove a proposal for oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) from the deficit-reducing bill now before them. It's bad enough that we have to put up with liberal Democrats, but liberal Republicans are worse.

I mean it's not like there aren't plenty of good reasons to drill for oil in ANWR. Reasons that even "intelligent" Democrats could support. Reasons like:

  • Oil is something we need (DUH!)
  • The American consumer will benefit
  • The American oil companies will benefit
  • Americans will get jobs from the oil companies
  • Economic growth for Americans living near ANWR
  • Less money will go to terrorist, Communist and rogue regimes
  • American national security will be enhanced as a result
  • Increased tax revenue (more people working and paying taxes)
  • Deficit reduction (resulting from the above)
  • Reduction of the international trade deficit

  • So what's not to like? I mean, are we really worried that the caribou population will quadruple like they did when we started oil drilling at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska? God forbid! ...Idiots.

Yet another reason I'm sick of politics right now. This issue should have been decided years ago. Why we don't go full throttle after every resource we can get our hands on mystifies me.

    Hey Marc,

Good to hear from ya! Cool new pic, eh? And here I though you were a little Afro-American kid! Hope all is going well in school.

    Best regards,

What really kills me is that the natives of Alaska have to get energy credits/subsidies somehow from New England power companies at exhorbitant rates when they could be self-sufficient.

Good article about the ANWR wasteland here. I hunted high and low in my saved files for this beauty.

It just amazes me how willfully ignorant people can be. The anti-drilling envirowhackos are the Cindy Sheehans on this subject. Unfortunately, the MSM has sold them to the American public as the Earth's Doctors who know so much more than the rest of us on this oh so very complicated subject. sigh It's a wonder anything gets done in this country. There's just no REASONing with these idjits.

OLA, Excellent link!! "If Alaska was Don King's head, the North Slope would be his afro." LOL

I highly recommend everyone reading OLA's link. Jonah Goldberg has such a way with words.

    Marge,
I agree, that was a great article. I've decided that if we ever do start drilling for oil in ANWR... I'm NOT going. (:D)

The main problem is even the RINO's side with the RFK jr/Chicken Little types that say, the sky is falling/the earth is warming/the trees are dying!!!!!!

BTW, doesn't anyone besides me wonder why the tree huggers are not outside the L.A Times, and N.Y. Times offices decrying the DAILY waste of paper they use? They complain about houses being built, but not lib newspapers, or the trees that died for Hillary's books to be published.

    RAM,
Good point! The tree-huggers only hug the trees Republicans are eyeing up... while they ignore the forests the Democrats are laying waste.

    Maggie,
So... why did the tree-hugger cross the road? Because there was a Republican tree over there!
