Looney Liberal of the Week: RINOs

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- This week's award goes to the liberal Congressional RINOs ("Republicans In Name Only") that successfully scuttled the agenda of their own party, by siding with Democrats to remove a proposal for oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) from the deficit-reducing bill now before them. It's bad enough that we have to put up with liberal Democrats, but liberal Republicans are worse.

I mean it's not like there aren't plenty of good reasons to drill for oil in ANWR. Reasons that even "intelligent" Democrats could support. Reasons like:

Oil is something we need (DUH!)

The American consumer will benefit

The American oil companies will benefit

Americans will get jobs from the oil companies

Economic growth for Americans living near ANWR

Less money will go to terrorist, Communist and rogue regimes

American national security will be enhanced as a result

Increased tax revenue (more people working and paying taxes)

Deficit reduction (resulting from the above)

Reduction of the international trade deficit

So what's not to like? I mean, are we really worried that the caribou population will quadruple like they did when we started oil drilling at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska? God forbid! ...Idiots.
